Growing Roots (formerly Farm Immersion Program) offers a transformative four-week experience designed to empower individuals of Afro-heritage in Canada through sustainable agricultural practices. Participants will engage in hands-on training focused on growing culturally significant foods, fostering a deep connection to their roots while promoting food security and economic advancement.

Cohort Options
The Farm Immersion Program is offered in four distinct cohorts throughout the year, allowing participants to experience farming across different seasons. Each cohort is designed to provide a unique perspective on farming practices and environmental challenges, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of ecological crop production.
Spring Cohort (April - May):
Focus on soil preparation, seed starting, and early planting. Learn how to establish a farm or garden as the growing season begins.
Summer Cohort (June - July):
Dive into intensive crop production, pest management, and greenhouse techniques during the peak growing season. Experience the full lifecycle of various crops.
Fall Cohort (September - October):
Harvest season is in full swing! Learn about post-harvest handling, crop storage, and preparing the farm for winter. Gain insights into value addition and marketing.
Winter Cohort (January - February):
Explore cold climate farming techniques, indoor and greenhouse production, and planning for the upcoming growing season. Focus on farm business models and community engagement.
